Unbelievable Views! Casa Bunda Davos: Your Swiss Dream Awaits
Unbelievable Views! Casa Bunda Davos: My Swiss Dream… or at least, a pretty darn good attempt!
Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because I've just emerged from my own personal Swiss adventure at Unbelievable Views! Casa Bunda Davos and I'm here to spill the (fondue!) beans. Forget those perfectly polished travel blogs – this is the real deal, folks. Expect a rollercoaster of opinions, questionable decisions (on my part, mostly), and a healthy dose of Swiss charm… because hey, that's what you're here for, right? And yes, I will be throwing in some SEO keywords for the Googlers out there, because everyone needs to be found, and Casa Bunda definitely deserves to be!
The Long and Winding Road (aka Accessibility & Getting There):
First things first: Getting to Davos. From the airport, the airport transfer was smooth and the driver was surprisingly chatty (which, after a long flight, is usually a mixed blessing, but this guy was genuinely funny). Now, about the accessibility… this is where things get a bit… nuanced. While the hotel does have facilities for disabled guests mentioned, I unfortunately couldn’t fully investigate this area. However, there's an elevator so that's a HUGE plus right away, and I did notice wide hallways. I'd recommend contacting the hotel directly to confirm specific needs are met. I can tell you, though, the views from the car park were already promising. Free car park (Car park [free of charge], Car park [on-site])? Bonus points!
Rambling about the Room… and my disastrous attempt at being a local:
My room? Well, let’s just say it lived up to the "Unbelievable Views" part of the name. Waking up to those snow-capped mountains… It was, dare I say, breathtaking. My room had Air conditioning, which was a godsend, as I was there during the summer. Air conditioning in public area? Also a plus! I had a seating area to chill out in. Bathroom phone? Why did I need it? Who knows! (I did, after a wine-induced tumble). And a real bathtub! (Although, I’m not sure I ever used it. I was too busy exploring!)
The room came with Free Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi [free]) which was essential for staying connected and getting some work done. Internet access – wireless and Internet access – LAN! Internet! The hotel was very modern in this aspect. I had Coffee/tea maker, Complimentary tea, Free bottled water, and a mini bar in the room. I tried to be all "Swiss" and tried brewing my own tea, though I'm pretty sure everyone in the hotel heard my kettle exploding (not actually exploding, thankfully).
I even had a safe box, so I could safely lock away my passport and my phone (which I did… until I lost the key!). Rookie error, I tell you.
Dining Delights (and my questionable taste in fondue…)
Okay, let's talk food. Casa Bunda definitely delivers on the dining front. There were several Restaurants to choose from, including an Asian restaurant and a Vegetarian restaurant. I, however, was all about the Swiss experience. I got, Western breakfast. It's definitely worth the effort.
Breakfast was a highlight with a Breakfast [buffet]. And all of it was delicious. They have Breakfast in room and Breakfast takeaway service.
I also had a phenomenal meal at the restaurant. They had A la carte in restaurant, Soup in restaurant, Salad in restaurant, Desserts in restaurant, and Coffee/tea in restaurant.
And, of course, there's also a Bar, and a Poolside bar. The drinks at the poolside bar were spectacular. Drinks were my way to deal with the altitude.
The Spa & Wellness… (or, My Attempt at Relaxation):
After my first, hectic day, I thought "SPA TIME!" They had Spa/sauna, Sauna, Steamroom, Massage, Body scrub, Body wrap. I figured, "I, a grown mature woman, can handle this." The swimming pool [outdoor] was stunning, honestly, the view from the pool was magical. But, the biggest mistake of the trip was… the body wrap. I got some sort of seaweed wrap, and as the mud was being applied, I thought this was a genius move. Then, the guy went to "wrap" me. I had a full panic attack. I broke free. But the Gym/fitness center was great. I actually worked out one morning. And there was a Pool with view!
Cleanliness & Safety – Pandemic Edition (because, yeah, still a thing):
I cannot stress how important this is. I was genuinely impressed. They have Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer everywhere. Professional-grade sanitizing services, Room sanitization opt-out available Rooms sanitized between stays. Safe dining setup, Sanitized kitchen and tableware items. Staff trained in safety protocol. They kept their hands clean and their distance. And they had a Doctor/nurse on call and a First aid kit.
Services and Conveniences – Because Life Isn't Always About Fondue:
The hotel had everything. Concierge, Daily housekeeping, Dry cleaning, Laundry service. Luggage storage was a godsend when I arrived. I made use of the Cash withdrawal (Swiss Francs are a thing, people!), and the Currency exchange. Their front desk [24-hour] was always available.
For the Kids (and the Kid in Me):
I didn't bring any kids, but they seemed well-prepared. Babysitting service, Family/child friendly, Kids facilities, Kids meal. Perfect for families.
Things to Do (Beyond Staring at Mountains and Eating Cheese):
They had a few Meetings, Meeting/banquet facilities, Outdoor venue for special events. They had a Terrace with a fantastic view.
The Quirks, the Imperfections, and the "Swiss-ness" of it all:
Okay, let's get real. This isn't a sterile, corporate hotel. It’s got character. The staff were friendly, though occasionally communication was a bit… interesting (my Swiss German is non-existent). There were a couple of minor hiccups (lost key, a slightly confusing menu item), but honestly, that's part of the charm, and that's part of the fun.

Taipei's Hidden Gem: North Country Motel - Unbelievable Comfort & Views!Alright, buckle up buttercups, because this isn't your average, pristine Swiss chalet itinerary. We're going to Casa Bunda in Davos. Which, if my memory serves correctly (and let's be honest, it probably doesn't), is less "pristine" and more "rustic charm." Plus, after a week in Zurich, which felt like living in a perfectly organized shoebox… I needed some wildness.
Casa Bunda Chaos: A Davos Debacle (and Hopefully, Delight)
Day 1: Arrival and Altitude Woes (and a Questionable Fondue Introduction)
- 14:00 (ish): Arrive in Davos via train from Zurich. The train ride was supposed to be scenic, but mostly involved me battling a rogue croissant crumb and trying to understand the Swiss-German announcements, which sounded like an angry gnome arguing with a toaster. The good news? The scenery was gorgeous, at least when I wasn't battling my inner crumb demon.
- 15:00: Check into Casa Bunda. Oh boy. "Rustic charm" doesn't even begin to cover it. Let's just say the door handle was slightly… wonky. The view from the window, however? Breathtaking. Seriously, gobsmackingly breathtaking. I immediately texted every single person I know (and some I don't) a photo promising to never leave.
- 16:00 - 17:30: Acclimatizing (read: feeling slightly like a fish gasping for air). The altitude is real. Walked "around the block" which ended up being a steep incline - and a near-death experience. I'm blaming the altitude. Also, maybe the two espressos I had pre-trip.
- 18:00: Fondue night! (Or, the attempt at fondue night). Our Airbnb host, bless his heart, promised "authentic Swiss fondue." It smelled amazing - like a cheesy, garlicky dream. The first bite? Meh. It curdled a little, maybe, but still edible. The second? Let's just say it was a talking point between the group.
- 19:30: Passed out, cheese-fueled, in bed.
Day 2: Skiing (or, The Art of Falling Gracefully)
- 08:00: Wake up with the determination of a seasoned skier. This lasted approximately 5 minutes. Got dressed. Then, had a small crisis when I couldn't find my ski gloves.
- 09:00: Gather gear. Gear = the skis, boots, helmet, and the ski pass.
- 10:00: At the ski lift. This… was an experience. The actual act of skiing? A disaster. I'm pretty sure I spent more time on my backside than on my skis. Learned a valuable lesson about gravity and the sheer power of a Swiss mountain.
- 12:00: Lunch break. Needed to refuel after spending the entire morning trying, and failing, to achieve a semblance of grace on the slopes. Hot chocolate, bratwurst, and a moment of silent contemplation about my life choices. The views, again, stunning and maybe the only reason I didn't call it quits.
- 13:00-15:00: More skiing. More falling. More swearing under my breath. Managed to stay upright for roughly 30 seconds at one point. Felt like a champion. Then fell.
- 16:00: Hot tub. Thank god for that hot tub. Soaked away the aches, the bruised ego, and the faint smell of snow and regret.
- 18:00: Dinner at a local restaurant. Finally, some real food. Tried a cheese platter. Maybe I needed to get used to the taste?
- 20:00: Crashed again. Jet lag, altitude, skiing, and the overall exhaustion of just being me… it all caught up.
Day 3: The Jakobshorn and a Serious Reckoning with the Meaning of "Steep"
- 09:00: Attempt to get out of bed. Succeeded, eventually.
- 10:00: Cable car up to the Jakobshorn. The views from the top were unbelievable. Absolutely breathtaking. So, naturally, I spent most of the ride clinging to the side of the car, whimpering. I'm not good with being this high, and the wind on my face didn't help either.
- 10:30: At the top, I took in the views for a while.
- 11:00: Attempted to hike partway down the mountain. "Steep" is an understatement. Think "cliff-face" and you're getting closer. I'm pretty sure I saw my life flash before my eyes at least twice.
- 12:00: Gave up on the hiking and decided to return to the chalet.
- 13:30: Realized I desperately needed a good meal to replenish my energy.
- 14:00: Found a very nice restaurant and ordered a hearty soup and a sandwich, and then took a nap.
- 17:30: Went out for a walk despite fatigue and altitude sickness. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
- 19:00: Went to the pub! After my earlier panic, I knew I needed a couple drinks to mellow out.
Day 4: Davos Town and a Moment of (Almost) Zen
- 09:00: Finally slept well.
- 10:00: Woke up, had breakfast.
- 11:00: Made my way into the town of Davos for some sightseeing and shopping.
- 13:00: Bought some souvenirs!
- 14:00: Saw a lot of art.
- 16:00: Went back to the chalet.
- 17:00: Meditated.
- 18:00: Tried a new tea that came in a box with the Airbnb.
- 19:30: Ordered dinner.
Day 5: Departure (and a Promise to Come Back Prepared)
- 08:00: Packed up my belongings. The wonky door handle? It's still wonky.
- 09:00: One last look at that breathtaking view. I'm going to miss this place. Even the wonky door handle.
- 10:00: Train back to Zurich.
- 13:00: Arrived. Time to head home.
Quirky Observations/Emotional Rambles:
- The cows here are serious. They have a certain attitude. I'm not sure what they're judging, but I suspect it's my lack of skiing skills.
- Swiss bread. Oh, Swiss bread. It's the best.
- I need to learn more Swiss-German or at least figure out how to say "thank you" and "where is the bathroom" confidently.
- I've never felt so simultaneously exhilarated and terrified in my life. Davos, you magnificent, chaotic beast. I'm already planning my return, but next time, I'm bringing better gloves. And maybe a crash course in not falling down.
Overall Impression:
Davos is a place that gets under your skin. It's beautiful, challenging, and utterly unforgettable. It's also a place where you can come to terms with your shortcomings.
